Sandy Cay (Rose Island)

25° 6.3′ N · 77° 14.2′ W

A tiny palm-topped cay with a sandbar to the west, north of the west end of Rose Island: a classic Nassau day-trip beach and, in the right wind, a quiet anchorage.

Practical

ActiveCaptain position (anchorage off the cay). Approach from the south; you can get very close to the island; land the dinghy on the sand beach on the left (west) part of the island; moderate current. A 2019 crew (4.1 ft draft) found protection here in a storm from the south, with solid holding on 100 ft of chain as the wind went north overnight. ActiveCaptain's separate day-stop pin (25.10540, -77.23201) notes it suits shallow-draft boats; the island is uninhabited and connectivity weak.
