Hope Town to White Sound Walk (Queen's Highway)

Walk out of car-free Hope Town and follow the island road south along the spine of Elbow Cay to White Sound, with ocean-side beaches, On Da Beach, the FoodStore and the Abaco Inn along the way. It is the easy way to see the cay without renting a golf cart.
Practical
Coordinate is the start at the south end of the village by the Post Office Dock (OpenStreetMap). Distance about 2 miles (roughly 3 km) one way to the Abaco Inn at White Sound, measured approximately from map positions, so allow 45 minutes to an hour each way; continuing to Sea Spray and Garbanzo Beach adds about another mile. Inside the village only walking and bikes are allowed; south of town the road is shared with golf carts and a few cars, with little shade and no sidewalk, so carry water and walk facing traffic. Wikipedia notes the road near White Sound was damaged by Hurricane Floyd (1999). Detours: the ocean beach behind the village, On Da Beach for lunch, and Garbanzo Beach near Sea Spray. Return by golf cart taxi or arrange a pick-up by dinghy.
