Cable Beach

25° 4.7′ N · 77° 24.7′ W

Two and a half miles of white sand and clear water along New Providence's north shore west of Nassau, lined with resorts including Baha Mar; it went unnamed until 1907.

Practical

Wikipedia position. Anchor off in the Cable Beach or Delaporte Bay anchorages in settled southerly to easterly weather: good holding in sand and good protection from the prevailing winds (ActiveCaptain), but a swell is ever present and it is untenable in northerlies. A large hotel dock allows dinghy access and there is a beach bar; you can also land on the beach in front of a public park. Taxis on West Bay Street; town is a long walk. Pompey Market is in the Cable Beach area (Wikipedia).

Best for

Resort beach and a settled-weather anchorage

Season

Settled S-E weather; exposed in northerlies
