Arawak Cay Fish Fry
25° 4.8′ N · 77° 21.5′ W
A strip of brightly painted seafood shacks and two-story restaurants on Arawak Cay, a 1969 man-made island west of downtown: conch salad made in front of you, fried fish and Kalik, busiest with locals on Sunday nights.
Practical
bahamas.com position (Western Esplanade, West Bay Street). West side: sit-down restaurants (Twin Brothers is the largest; locals recommend Drifters and Oh Andros). East side: beach shacks busiest from late afternoon into the evening. Try the tropical conch salad (with mango and pineapple). Casual dress; police station on site. Anchor at Crystal Cay or Long Cay and dinghy in via the canal, or walk from downtown (about 15 minutes).
