Granite Bay (Esther Island, Prince William Sound)
60° 52.4′ N · 148° 6.0′ W · approximate
A small shoal bay at the north-west corner of Esther Island that is a state marine park. DEC says navigation inside is safe but access is hard for anything larger than a seine skiff, so it needs local knowledge.
Practical
Position is approximate, nudged into the water from the DEC plan's coordinates (60 deg 52.45 min N, 148 deg 06.19 min W). The DEC plan warns of shoal water with numerous reefs and rocks, a salmon stream, sea otters, and bears (guard needed). There is another Granite Bay near Port Fidalgo, much farther east, so do not mix them up. DEC's wording suggests a sailboat should not expect to enter without local knowledge.
