Abra Cove and Aialik Public Use Cabin (Aialik Bay)
59° 53.2′ N · 149° 39.3′ W · approximate
A long cobble beach near the upper end of the bay on the east side, with views of Aialik Glacier and a reservable NPS cabin. It is one of the few places in the bay where you can walk freely along the shore at low tide.
Practical
Position is the cabin coordinate from an Alaska.org listing (Port Graham Corporation land, five-acre easement); the NPS pages disagree on whether the cabin is in Abra Cove or just south of it, so treat the exact spot as unconfirmed. Offshore are many uncharted rocks, so approach slowly. There are no mooring buoys at any cabin beach. The cabin sleeps up to four, costs $75 a night with a three-night season limit, and season reservations open January 1 at 10 am Eastern on recreation.gov; the season runs about Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend. Land outside the lease is Port Graham Village Corporation property; phone 907-284-2212 for a permit before walking beyond the lease. Store all food inside the cabin: black and brown bears frequent the area.
