Trois-Îlets Village

14° 32.3′ N · 61° 2.1′ W

The bourg of Trois-Îlets, Empress Joséphine's home parish, with its church on the square, a covered market and a village atmosphere quite different from the resort strip at Pointe du Bout.

Practical

Position is the Trois-Îlets tourist office in the bourg (OSM). Nearby are the covered market (Marché Couvert, 14.53847, -61.03455), bakeries (La Polka, La Guérande) and a Caraïbes Price supermarket on the edge of the village (OSM). The church Notre-Dame-de-la-Bonne-Délivrance is a listed monument (Wikipedia). Trois-Îlets became a commune in 1849 after a Jesuit parish from 1683 (Martinique tourism). Ferries run from the bourg pier to Fort-de-France. The Pagerie museum, Maison de la Canne, Savane des Esclaves and the Village de la Poterie are a few km by road.
