Holetown Anchorage (Folkestone)
13° 11.1′ N · 59° 38.5′ W · approximate
An open roadstead off Holetown, where the first English settlers landed in 1627, on the 'Platinum Coast' of luxury hotels, beach bars and the Folkestone Marine Reserve.
Practical
Position is a point in the water about 300 m off Holetown, derived from OpenStreetMap shoreline features (approx). Noonsite lists the Holetown area as an open anchorage, unprotected from swell. The whole Holetown shore lies inside the Barbados (Folkestone) Marine Reserve. The NCC-managed reserve stretches from the north point of Sandy Lane beach to the north point of Heron Bay and has scientific, recreational and two water-sports zones (motorised craft under 5 knots/no wake within 75 m of shore), and fishing and taking marine life are prohibited. Anchor only in clear sand well away from reef and the Stavronikita wreck, and confirm with Customs when you get coastal permission. Dinghy landing is on the beach. Massy Stores and Holetown's restaurants are close by.
Best for
Lunch stop or calm-weather night near the snorkel reserve
