The open roadstead off Carriacou's only town, quieter than Tyrrel Bay and handy for the market, banks, museum and ferry, but it rolls when the swell runs and the dinghy landing is poor.
Practical
Coordinate is about 260 m off the Hillsborough waterfront, derived from OpenStreetMap coastline data (approx). Noonsite (Feb 2025): not a particularly sheltered anchorage and subject to swell. Few yachts visit because there is no proper dinghy dock; a 2015 cruiser found the jetty not designed for small dinghies. Noforeignland reviewers (2026) report reliable holding in sand, a poor dinghy dock and hurricane recovery still under way ashore. A 2015 cruiser called it good holding with no crowds, excellent eateries and easy provisioning. Yachts can no longer clear in or out here; use Tyrrel Bay. Keep clear of the ferry jetty and its approach. Sandy Island moorings are about 1.3 nm west. The 2023 'A World Adrift' underwater sculpture park lies in 4 m off the coast (see that entry).
