Habitation Clément Rum Estate (Le François)

14° 36.1′ N · 60° 54.4′ W

The island's most celebrated rum estate: a Creole planter's house, the old distillery turned rum-interpretation centre, ageing chais, botanical gardens and a contemporary-art foundation.

Practical

Position from French Wikipedia. Serenitrip: open 365 days a year 9 am-6:30 pm, last entry 5:30 pm. Allow 1.5-2 hours. There is an audio guide but no guided tour, and temporary exhibitions are free. Adult admission was €13 in Serenitrip's 2023 guide (verify locally), and online booking is recommended because the site is busy. Rum is no longer distilled here (it is made at the Simon distillery in Le François), but ageing and bottling continue. It is about 10 minutes by road from Le François marina (Douglas Yacht Services), so take a taxi from the anchorage.
