Gros Islet Friday Night Street Party
14° 4.9′ N · 60° 57.2′ W
Every Friday for more than 50 years the fishing village of Gros Islet closes its streets for a jump-up of sound systems, grilled fish, conch, lobster and chicken, bakes and green-fig salad: St Lucia's most famous night out.
Practical
Coordinate is the OpenStreetMap node for Gros Islet Town. Runs every Friday from sunset into the small hours (Saint Lucia Tourism Authority). From the Rodney Bay anchorage, land at the dinghy pontoon near town; from the marina it is about a 20-minute walk or a short taxi. Carry small EC$ notes; agree taxi fares in advance and book your ride back on Friday nights. Noonsite warns that petty theft risk rises at festivals: lock the dinghy, carry little and do not leave drinks unattended.
