Grande Anse Macabou
14° 29.9′ N · 60° 49.3′ W
A long, little-visited Atlantic beach inside the reef south of Le Vauclin, linked with Petite Anse Macabou by a sheltered lagoon popular with kiters.
Practical
Position is from OSM (Plage de la Grande Anse Macabou). Boatnews describes the Macabou lagoon as roomy, with on- to side-on wind and a more pronounced shorebreak at Grande Macabou. Sargassum can pile up on these beaches (Visorando hikers' notes). It is mostly a road or hike destination. The Trace des Caps continues north from Cap Chevalier past Cap Macré and Cap Ferré to the Macabou beaches.
Best for
Kitesurfing and an empty beach
