Grand Anse Marine Protected Area Moorings

12° 2.5′ N · 61° 45.4′ W · approximate

The yacht mooring field of the Grand Anse Marine Protected Area lies off Pandy Beach, just south of the St George's harbour entrance. It is the legal place to stop outside the Lagoon: reefs grow under the keel and Grand Anse Beach is a short dinghy ride south.

Practical

Position is approximate, about 250 m off Pandy Beach (OpenStreetMap beach), checked to be in the water against the OSM coastline. Exact mooring positions were not published. Noonsite (November 2023): the Pandy Beach mooring field is operational at US$10 a night, payable to Gren-Moor Ltd. No anchoring is allowed anywhere in GAMPA except megayachts in a dedicated zone. It is prohibited to anchor in Grand Anse Bay south of 12°02.05'N, and fines or imprisonment are possible. A 2021 cruiser found it hard to book and pay online, and the operator collects by boat. Noforeignland reviewers call it a designated mooring area handy for St George's and the beaches, but rolly when the wind drops. Security: on February 18, 2024 the catamaran Simplicity was hijacked off Grand Anse by three escaped prisoners and its two US crew were murdered. The men were later convicted (CSSN, August 2025). It is an extreme outlier, but lock up at night, keep a cockpit light on and report anything suspicious to the Coast Guard (+1 473 444 1931). Prices are older than 2024; verify locally.
