Frigate Island Anchorage (Ashton Harbour)

12° 35.3′ N · 61° 26.2′ W · approximate

A sheltered, shallow lagoon on Union's south coast protected by Frigate Island and an offshore reef, with mangroves, seagrass and views of Carriacou.

Practical

Coordinate is derived: water in the lee of the western part of Frigate Island (OpenStreetMap coastline), matching the tourism authority's note that the western edge of Frigate Island is the anchorage for visiting yachts; much of Ashton Harbour is too shallow. Sustainable Grenadines has laid moorings (free for visiting yachts, white with blue 'SusGren' markings and a number) in the Ashton Lagoon and ten mooring blocks near Frigate Rock. Kiters use the lagoon. Clear in at Clifton first; boats anchoring here without clearing have been fined. In 2019 an unlocked charter dinghy was stolen here overnight - lock up.

Best for

A quiet, protected night away from Clifton
