Fort King George (Scarborough)
11° 10.6′ N · 60° 43.6′ W
Tobago's largest fort, built by the British in 1777 on the ridge above Scarborough, with cannon, restored buildings and the Tobago Museum in the old officers' mess, all with the Atlantic as a backdrop.
Practical
Position from OpenStreetMap. A 15-minute uphill walk via Fort Street from Main Street, or drive to the car park beside the museum. The Tobago Museum holds Amerindian artefacts and burials, colonial prints and documents. THA Tourism staff offer guided tours from the car park. An 1847 hurricane cut its roughly 30 buildings to about 10. Hours and fees not given by Rough Guides; verify locally.
