Blue Lagoon Anchorage (St Vincent)

13° 7.6′ N · 61° 11.5′ W · approximate

A reef-sheltered lagoon on St Vincent's south-east corner, ringed by palms and home to the island's charter bases. It is the usual start and finish for a Grenadines loop and the closest yacht harbour to Argyle airport.

Practical

Coordinate is the centroid of the OpenStreetMap 'Blue Lagoon' bay polygon (approx, in the lagoon). Noonsite (updated Feb 2025) calls the shelter excellent, with plenty of room to anchor; anchoring is free (2014 cruiser report). Moorings are also available: Barefoot Yacht Charters rents its own moorings at US$15 a night (Barefoot website, viewed Oct 2026), and Cruising World says Barefoot owns 25 moorings that can be used to leave a boat for weeks or months. Entry: the lit, marked channel carries 2.5-2.8 m over soft sand and is the only option at night; boats drawing 6.5 ft or more cannot use it at low tide. A deeper but very narrow south (reef) channel is daylight-only and the marina can arrange a pilot for US$20 per passage (Noonsite, Feb 2025). Mixed noforeignland reviews: some find the moorings rolly when swell wraps over the reef. Security: Noonsite reports dinghy and outboard theft and break-ins, including a locked, lit yacht on a mooring; lift and lock the dinghy and lock hatches at night. Buses to Kingstown stop at the marina gate (EC$2 per ride in 2023; verify locally).

Best for

Charter base, crew changes and a sheltered first or last night in SVG

Season

Year-round; the reef damps swell but it can be rolly in strong south-east wind
