13° 12.8′ N · 59° 31.3′ W · approximate
A roughly 5 km coastal walk along the bed of the old Barbados Railway, past sea-carved rock formations, hidden bays and Atlantic surf from Bath to the surfers' village of Bathsheba.
Practical
Position is a section of the Barbados Trailway near Bathsheba from OpenStreetMap (approx). The railway ran from 1883 to 1937 (Wikipedia). Visit Barbados: the route is about 5 km from Bath, St John, to Bathsheba; you can also join it from Martin's Bay. A longer 8-mile route from Bathsheba through St John includes Hackleton's Cliff. In early February the Great Train Hike follows the whole 24-mile line from Bridgetown. Go early morning, carry water, and wear proper shoes; there is no shade on the coastal stretches. Arrange a taxi to drop you at one end and collect you at the other.
