Baliceaux Anchorage
12° 56.9′ N · 61° 8.8′ W · approximate
An uninhabited, wind-swept island east of Bequia with goats, tortoises, walking trails and a haunting history, and usually no other boat. A true off-the-beaten-path stop in settled trades.
Practical
Position approximate: placed ~50 m off the west (lee) shore using OpenStreetMap coastline; no published waypoint found - eyeball your way in. noforeignland (2026): Landing Bay gives good shelter from the easterly trades, closest to the beach in about 5 m of sand. Moonlight Sailing describes a south anchorage in a wide bay: enter hugging the south point to avoid a coral shoal to the north, anchor in 4-8 m over black sand; well sheltered in north-east wind but rolly in strong south-east wind (then tuck behind the south point). A north-west anchorage is more open, for south-east winds. A 2012 blog found Landing Bay very rolly. No water, supplies or services. The island was bought by the SVG government in March 2025 (Wikipedia); land respectfully - it is effectively a graveyard.
