Anse Cochon Moorings

13° 55.6′ N · 61° 3.5′ W · approximate

A secluded, steep-sided bay with a dark-sand beach, reachable mostly by sea, with reefs on both sides and three wrecks offshore: the favourite lunch and snorkel stop between Marigot and Soufrière.

Practical

Position is about 120 m off Anse Cochon Beach, derived from the OpenStreetMap coastline (approx). The Moorings: mooring balls for a fee; red balls are reserved for dive boats; other vessels can anchor in the middle of the bay; no yacht facilities. Noonsite places the whole coast from Anse Cochon to Gros Piton inside the Soufrière Marine Management Area, where anchoring is strictly controlled; pay the ranger and follow instructions. Open to the west: rolly or untenable in north-west ground swell. Ti Kaye resort sits on the cliff above, with a dock in the bay. Snorkel the reefs at the north and south ends; divers visit the Lesleen M, Vicky B and SK2 wrecks.
