18° 19.2′ N · 64° 43.5′ W
The Virgin Islands Environmental Resource Station camp at Lameshur, home of a small museum to the Tektite underwater-habitat program and a UVI research dock on Yawzi Point.
Practical
Position is the Wikipedia point for Lameshur. The Tektite I and II programs (1969 and 1970) placed an underwater habitat in Great Lameshur Bay, the first U.S. national scientists-in-the-sea program; the Tektite Underwater Habitat Museum is in the VIERS camp (Wikipedia). The VIERS dock hosts the land-based mooring pay station (NPS). The road in is unmaintained and 4x4 is often required. Opening hours not verified.
