Turtle Beach (Buck Island)

17° 47.2′ N · 64° 37.6′ W

The long, sugary west-end beach of Buck Island, often listed among the world's most beautiful, with clear calm water for a first snorkel and the start of the island trails.

Practical

Coordinate from GoToStCroix's listing. Little shade: bring a hat and reef-safe sunscreen. Stay out of the manchineel trees behind the beach: sap, leaves and the small green apple-like fruit cause chemical burns (NPS brochure). No digging, no stakes, poles or umbrellas pushed into the sand, no glass; fires only in the NPS grills. Closes at 5 pm.

Best for

A swim and picnic off the anchored boat
