Trellis Bay Mooring Field

18° 26.9′ N · 64° 31.9′ W · approximate

A sheltered bay beside Beef Island's airport, crowded with moorings around little Bellamy Cay, with art studios, a beach café scene and the famous monthly Full Moon Party ashore.

Practical

Position approximate: placed in the mooring field between Bellamy Cay (Wikipedia) and Noonsite's entrance position. Noonsite (Jan 2024): the bay is overcrowded with moorings and anchoring room close to shore is scarce; most boats anchor near the entrance, where there is space and good holding. Moorings are tight and paid ashore (historically at Bellamy Cay or De Loose Mongoose). Shallow-draft boats may find room in the east/south-east corner, which is hot, with mosquitoes. Approach: keep well east of the yellow markers off the runway end and the shoals around Bellamy Cay; red and green buoys mark the channel into the anchorage on the east side. Boats with masts over 50 ft should check with BVI aviation authorities on VHF 16 before approaching. Gas, diesel and water at the shallow pier in front of De Loose Mongoose. Very crowded on Full Moon nights. Noonsite also reports plans to extend the runway toward Sprat Point, which would close the current entrances and require a new dredged channel: check the latest notices before entering.
