Hike· Virgin Gorda· Virgin Islands (BVI, USVI and Spanish Virgins)

Little Fort National Park

18° 26.4′ N · 64° 26.5′ W

Overgrown masonry ruins of a small fort and powder magazine hidden among giant boulders at Fort Point, between Spanish Town and Big Trunk Bay.

Practical

Established 1978, 36 acres. Undeveloped and hard to reach: the only access is from the seashore, then a difficult trail through rugged terrain and dense vegetation to the munitions store (three walls and a stone-and-mortar ceiling). Bromeliads, pitch apple and silk cotton trees; hawksbill turtles nest at Valley Trunk Bay below the southern boundary. For adventurous hikers only.
