Gun Creek (North Sound)

18° 29.6′ N · 64° 22.7′ W · approximate

The working village cove on the south side of North Sound, with the ferry dock for Saba Rock and Bitter End and road access to the rest of Virgin Gorda.

Practical

Coordinate is the OpenStreetMap bay label (approximate anchoring area). The Gun Creek dock (18.4902, -64.3817 in OpenStreetMap) is the land link for North Sound: ferries run from here to Bitter End and Saba Rock (Saba Rock's resort ferry takes about 10 minutes), and taxis run to Spanish Town and the airport (Saba Rock quotes about 20 minutes and about US$40 from the airport to Gun Creek, 2026). A 2015 cruising log reports anchoring here and clearing into the BVI at Gun Creek; confirm locally whether a customs office operates there now before relying on it. Holding and depth not documented in sources found; anchor clear of the ferry approach. Coast Pilot 5: Creek Shoal, off the south side of the entrance to Gun Creek, is coral sand with a least depth of 21 ft; the west part of Gorda Sound has several 2 to 3 fathom shoals and some coral patches under 1 fathom, so approach from the east along the deeper water. For a dinghy run west to Drake's Anchorage see Mosquito Island - Anguilla Point Channel.

Best for

Crew changes, taxis and a quiet anchorage close to the road
