Great Harbour Customs & Immigration (Jost Van Dyke Port of Entry)

18° 26.6′ N · 64° 45.2′ W

One of the BVI's four yacht ports of entry, in the white, blue-roofed ferry terminal on Dog Hole Jetty at the west side of Great Harbour. Cruisers describe clearance here as fast and straightforward, which makes it the natural first stop when sailing over from St John or St Thomas.

Practical

Coordinate is the Great Harbour ferry dock mapped in OpenStreetMap. Noonsite (Dec 2022): the terminal opened in 2020 after Hurricane Irma and houses Customs, Immigration and a tourism office; dinghies can use the dock in front of the office. All departments monitor VHF 16. You cannot extend a visa here (Road Town or Spanish Town only) and Temporary Import Permit extensions are issued only in Road Harbour. Immigration +1 284 495 9374; Police +1 284 495 9345 (Noonsite). Confirm current office hours by phone or VHF 16 before you arrive; see Noonsite's main BVI formalities page for the full clearance process. Foreign yachts that want to use National Parks Trust day moorings (Sandy Cay, the Tobagos and elsewhere) must buy the NPT marine conservation permit at Customs on entry. No ATM or bank on Jost Van Dyke: bring US dollars for fees.
