Thap Lamu Pier (park ferries)
8° 34.2′ N · 98° 13.4′ E
The departure pier for nearly all Similan and Koh Bon day boats and liveaboard transfers. The mainland office and visitor centre of Mu Ko Similan National Park are nearby.
Practical
Coordinate is the OSM-mapped Tap Lamu Pier. The mainland Similan park office and main visitor centre are near the pier, phone +66 (0)76 453 272 (Thai National Parks). Speedboats leave from about 8:15am in season and reach the islands in about 70–90 minutes; the standard park boat takes about 3 hours (Wikipedia). It is busy with speedboat traffic from early morning, so dinghy in from the Thap Lamu anchorage outside the rush hours. Useful for crew changes, since Khao Lak resorts are a short taxi ride away. Fuel and fish are at the village jetty (Southeast Asia Pilot).
