Seychelles Sheath-tailed Bat (Silhouette)

4° 29.2′ S · 55° 13.8′ E

Silhouette holds the largest surviving roost of the Critically Endangered Seychelles sheath-tailed bat, a species thought to number fewer than 100 worldwide.

Practical

Pin is the island centroid; roost locations are deliberately not published. Wikipedia notes bats in two caves on Silhouette and a 2005 count of 32 in another roost. ICS runs guided observation nights; do not search for roosts on your own. Large fruit bats (wingspans about 3 ft) also fly over La Passe at dusk.
