La Passe Jetty and Anchorage (Silhouette)

4° 29.2′ S · 55° 15.4′ E · approximate

Silhouette's only harbour and village on the east coast: the jetty where the Mahé ferry and resort boats land, the start of every trail on the island, and the front door to NIVA Labriz (ex-Hilton Labriz).

Practical

Coordinate approx: GeoNames puts the populated place (La Passe) at 4°29'09"S 55°15'09"E; the pin is moved a few hundred metres east into the water off the jetty. No published depths or mooring buoys were found; anchor clear of the jetty approach and the resort boat traffic, in sand by eye. The east coast is in the lee of the island in the northwest monsoon but takes the southeast trades side-on; check the swell. Resort guests arrive on a roughly 40-minute boat from Bel Ombre jetty on Mahé (NIVA Labriz), or by 15-minute helicopter. No cars on the island: footpaths and resort electric carts only. No fuel, chandlery or public provisioning found in any source; arrive fully stocked from Mahé. Landing beyond the jetty and resort is controlled (see Silhouette landing permit).
