Bird Island Turtle Nesting and Hatching
3° 43.0′ S · 55° 12.5′ E · approximate
Hawksbill turtles haul out on Bird's beaches to nest, and from mid-December to mid-March hatchlings scramble down to the sea.
Practical
The lodge says it is unusual not to see a hawksbill laying from October to January, and hatchlings emerge from mid-December to mid-March; stay 3 or so days in January-March to see hatchlings. Green turtles also nest. Keep lights off the beaches at night. Coordinate is approximate: east shore from the OpenStreetMap outline.
