Every Wednesday evening the beachfront at Beau Vallon turns into Bazar Labrin: food stalls, a bonfire, live traditional music and Creole crafts, packed with locals as much as visitors.
Practical
Wednesdays, about 5pm to 8pm (Wikivoyage), on the beach and boardwalk in front of the Savoy hotel. Cheap street food: curried calamari rotis, barbecued kebabs and fresh passion-fruit juice (Hacking family, 2007). Anchor in Beau Vallon Bay and land by dinghy before dark, or take a taxi from Eden Island. Bring rupees in cash.
