Baie Lazare Beach

4° 45.7′ S · 55° 29.1′ E

The half-moon bay where Lazare Picault landed in 1742 to claim Mahé for France: turquoise water, bright sand and granite, with a local legend of buried pirate treasure found here.

Practical

Shallow water good for swimming, snorkelling and windsurfing (Seyvillas). Kempinski resort on the bay; bus stop and parking. The OSM bay label sits about 330 m offshore in the water, but no cruising-guide anchorage data was found, so treat it as a day stop in settled weather only. The Lazare Picault monument stands by the road (OSM).
