4° 12.7′ S · 55° 40.1′ E · approximate
Rothmannia annae, a critically endangered shrub to 4 m whose fragrant white, magenta-spotted trumpet flowers open about ten days after heavy rain — Aride holds the world's only natural, self-sustaining population, over 1,000 plants.
Practical
Seen along the guided nature trail (No. 19 on the ICS trail map); flowering follows heavy rain, so the NW-monsoon wet season gives the best chance. Picking or removing any plant material is prohibited under Seychelles law. Coordinate approx: island interior; individual plant locations are not published.
