Aldabra Main Channel (Grande Passe) Drift Dive
9° 22.2′ S · 46° 14.4′ E · approximate
A fast tidal drift through Aldabra's main lagoon channel, where currents reach 6.5 knots at springs and sharks, rays and big fish move with the water.
Practical
SIF requires PADI Advanced Open Water or equivalent to dive Grande Passe/Main Channel, daylight dives only, no touching coral and slow finning; all divers must follow SIF scuba regulations given to the expedition leader. Dives are run with SIF from the visiting vessel. No chamber within hundreds of miles. Coordinate is approximate: the seaward end of the gap between Picard and Polymnie in OpenStreetMap; SIF assigns the actual dive plan.
