Cornet Bay (Whidbey Island)

48° 23.8′ N · 122° 38.1′ W

A shallow bay on the Whidbey side just east of Deception Pass, with state park floats, a pump-out and launch ramps, and a private marina. Crews use it to wait out the current or overnight close to the pass.

Practical

Coordinate is the OSM bay. Shallow and for small craft only (Coast Pilot). Enter between Ben Ure Island (light on its north-east end) and the Whidbey shore; Strawberry Island in the pass has a kelp-marked reef on its south side - stay 125 yards off. State Parks floats and pump-out are east of the marina; fees $1 per foot on docks ($23 minimum), $7 launch fee, $10 overnight parking. Deception Pass Marina (private, 360-675-5411) has listed about 85 berths, fuel and a store, but current 2025-2026 fuel and store status was not confirmed: call first. The flood north and west of Strawberry Island sets north-east.
