Tubbataha Ranger Station
8° 51.0′ N · 119° 55.1′ E
A concrete station on a sandbar at the southern tip of Tubbataha's North Atoll, where marine park rangers live on two-month rotations year-round, guarding the reef with patrol boats and radar.
Practical
Position is the station sandbar as mapped in OpenStreetMap. Rangers (about 10-12 at a time) patrol with two patrol boats, a utility boat, radar and radio (TMO). Check in with them on arrival and follow their directions; they inspect permits. The station sells some souvenirs (Wikivoyage). The fishing vessel Min Long Yu grounded about 1.1 nm east of the station in 2013, so give the reef edge here a wide berth.
