Taytay Town Anchorage (Taytay Bay)

10° 49.9′ N · 119° 31.0′ E

An anchorage off historic Taytay on Palawan's Sulu Sea side, below the coral-stone walls of the 18th-century Fort Santa Isabel - the old Spanish capital of the region and a road town for buses to El Nido.

Practical

Hacking Family: 10°49.92'N 119°30.98'E, 21 ft (about 6 m) mud. Protected from southerly winds but pretty exposed during the NE monsoon. 'The approach to Taytay is a bit dodgy, as the area is shot through with reefs' - come in on good light with satellite imagery. Taytay is on the east coast, a long way round from El Nido by sea; by road it's about 1.5 hours from El Nido.

Best for

Fort Santa Isabel and a Sulu Sea-side stop in the SW monsoon

Season

Best in SW monsoon; exposed in NE monsoon
