Panagsama House Reef Wall (Moalboal)

9° 57.0′ N · 123° 21.9′ E

The wall that drops away right in front of the Panagsama dive shops - the same edge the sardine shoal patrols - with coral on the lip, turtles, and a reliable night dive full of octopus and crabs.

Practical

Wannadive.net position (9°57.013'N 123°21.903'E, WGS84, precision marked exact), 'just in front of Sumisid Lodge, Panagsama beach', in front of the two wharves and jetty. Average 15 m, maximum about 40 m; current under 1 knot; visibility 10-30 m. Listed danger: depth. The reef drop-off starts 20-30 m from shore (Wikivoyage), so most shops shore-dive it or run a two-minute bangka ride; the Moalboal Sardine Run entry covers the same edge for snorkellers. Yachts should not anchor here - depths go past 40 m within metres of the reef; negotiate a dive-shop mooring or stay in Badian Bay (see Moalboal Panagsama Anchorage).

Best for

Night dives and sardine dives straight off the beach

Season

Year-round; west coast is in the lee in the NE monsoon (Nov-Apr)
