Northeast Monsoon on Siargao's East Coast
9° 46.4′ N · 126° 9.8′ E · approximate
From about November to March the amihan blows onshore on Siargao's Pacific coast, bringing rain, swell and a lee-shore setup off General Luna.
Practical
Pin approx (General Luna anchorage). Surigao is wettest November-March (Wikipedia climate, PAGASA data). Hacking Family: in the NE season the whole coastline off Surigao is a lee shore; they sheltered at Kantiasay (Nonoc). The west coast (Del Carmen) and Dapa are the better choices in the amihan. Typhoon Odette (Rai) made landfall on Siargao on Dec 16, 2021 at 1:30 pm local time with 195 km/h winds, devastating the island - late-season typhoons can strike here.
