Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) Dry Season
14° 47.4′ N · 120° 14.0′ E · approximate
The amihan (northeast monsoon), roughly November to April, is the cool, dry cruising season on Luzon's west coast. Offshore breezes make the Zambales coves, Capones and Fortune Island workable, and Subic racing is at its best.
Practical
Plotted at the Subic Bay reference point (Wikipedia). Wikipedia: the amihan sets in October-November and ends March-April, with the cool dry season November-February. Manila's dry season runs November-April. On the west coast this wind blows off the land, so the west-facing coves get their best shelter now. Subic Bay develops its own afternoon breezes, which can reach 20 knots on flat water but are shifty (Subic Sailing Club). Typhoons are rare but possible early in the season (October-November).
