Coron Public Market

11° 59.7′ N · 120° 12.3′ E

The wet market on the waterfront in the middle of town, the best source in the Calamianes for fish, meat, fruit and vegetables.

Practical

Mapped in OpenStreetMap on Malvar Street by the water; Hackingfamily (2022) describes the public market about in the middle of town by the water. Moken (2015) found it had been moved east along the waterfront from the old centre location, so expect it to shift again with the reclamation work. Wikivoyage: the Market Pier area also has slaughterhouses (smell), diners and karaoke. Go early. Seasonal fruit (mango, jackfruit, cashew fruit) and the local cashew nuts are worth buying. Cash only; private bangka crews will shop here and cook your lunch for the cost of ingredients (Chris and Wren's World paid PHP 400-500 for a market lunch for two).

Best for

Fresh fish, meat and produce
