Biniray Festival (Romblon)
12° 34.5′ N · 122° 16.2′ E
Romblon town's feast of the Santo Niño in the second week of January, when a fluvial parade carries the image of the Holy Child around Romblon Bay in a flotilla of decorated boats.
Practical
Position: St. Joseph Cathedral, which houses the centuries-old Santo Niño image (the parade itself circles the bay). Wikipedia: every second week of January Romblon town celebrates the feast of the Santo Niño de Cebú, also called the Biniray; the fluvial parade goes around Romblon Bay to bring good fortune to the villages. Expect heavy small-boat traffic in the harbour on parade day: anchor well clear of the procession route and the ferry berth. A visiting yacht in mid-January 2016 found restaurants serving special festival menus. Banton holds its own Biniray on 10 September for San Nicolas de Tolentino. Exact parade day varies: check with the municipal tourism office.
