Apo Island Anchorage and Moorings
9° 4.4′ N · 123° 16.5′ E · approximate
A small volcanic island 7 km off southern Negros, where visiting boats tie up off the south-east shore beside the original fish sanctuary, now used to park fishing boats. Anchoring elsewhere is restricted to protect the reef.
Practical
Position approx: placed off the south-east shore, where Wikipedia says the former sanctuary area now parks fishing boats; checked as open water on the OpenStreetMap base map. We found no published yacht anchorage, depth or holding. Rules (philippinedives.com, 2026): anchoring is restricted to designated mooring buoys only; anchor damage is fined up to PHP 50,000. So ask the ranger station or a local boatman for a buoy, and treat Apo as a settled-weather day stop. North-side sites lose shelter in strong southwest-monsoon swell (Jun-Sep), and boat crossings are sometimes cancelled. Currents around the points are strong, especially near full moon. Mobile signal near the village only. Two resorts (Liberty's Community Lodge and Apo Island Beach Resort) have restaurants and dive shops, and electricity runs roughly 7-10pm (philippinedives.com). Little retail on the island: bring what you need.
