Dauin Anchorage

9° 11.5′ N · 123° 16.3′ E · approximate

An open roadstead off Dauin's black volcanic sand coast, 16-20 km south of Dumaguete, where the dive resorts sit side by side and the famous muck sites are right off the beach.

Practical

Position approx: placed about 600 m off Dauin town (Wikivoyage geo 9.1902N 123.2637E) and checked as open water on the OpenStreetMap base map. We found no cruising guide covering a yacht anchorage here. The coast faces east-south-east, so it is open to the east and south-east (inferred from the map). Dauin's sanctuaries (Masaplod, Dauin Poblacion, Mainit, Luca and others) ban fishing and boating inside their marked boundaries (Wikipedia), so anchor well outside the buoyed areas on sand. Most practical is to leave the boat at Dumaguete or Bonbonon and take a jeepney or tricycle to Dauin.
