Xel-Há
20° 19.0′ N · 87° 21.4′ W
A natural inlet and lagoon where underground fresh water meets the sea, turned into a big eco-park for snorkelling among tropical fish - the Maya name means 'where the water is born'.
Practical
Coordinate from Wikipedia (Xel-Há Park). Commercial park run by Grupo Xcaret at Km 240 of the Chetumal-Puerto Juárez highway, about 20 km south of Puerto Aventuras; the Maya archaeological site of Xelha, a port of Cobá, is next door. The lagoon mouth is fenced, so it is not a boat destination - go by road. Prices change often and the official site blocked our check - see xelha.com (verify locally).
