Punta Trinidad Anchorage

27° 49.5′ N · 112° 43.6′ W

A big open bay known for westerly breezes, letting boats split the long Santa Rosalía–San Francisquito run into two daylight legs.

Practical

Room for a dozen boats; sand at 20-35 ft with good holding, the preferred spot tucked into the SE corner in about 15 ft (mind the tide). Protected E, S, W but open when approaching from the north; Club Cruceros notes it can be very rolly with little south protection. Night-time westerlies often exceed 25 kn. Give room to offlying rocks along this coast. Seasonal fish camp. No services. The Log: about 37 miles up the coast from Santa Rosalía; anchor off the village beach NW of the point — a small but handy refuge and a good radar target if arriving at night.

Best for

Avoiding an overnight between Santa Rosalía and San Francisquito
