Punta Allen Village

19° 48.0′ N · 87° 28.6′ W

Punta Allen (officially Javier Rojo Gómez) is a lobster-fishing village of a few sandy streets at the end of a 50 km jungle track - beach restaurants, a fishermen's co-op and genuinely off-grid charm.

Practical

Coordinate from Wikipedia. About 470 people (2010). A town-built dinghy dock serves the anchorage (Soundings). Power comes from a community generator that runs roughly 11 am-2 pm and 7 pm-midnight; cash only almost everywhere and cell phones generally do not work (Wikipedia, Wikivoyage). Supplies: four mini-markets, a fresh seafood store, a produce store, and a lobster cooperative that sells seafood and makes ice; one shop sells beer, wine and liquor. Restaurants (Wikivoyage): Muelle Viejo (fish, shrimp, octopus; Friday-Sunday 12:30 pm-9 pm), Xoken (beachfront seafood, 9 am-4 pm), Los Gaytanes (beach tables; accepts cards). There is a naval base. No fuel dock was reported.
