Playa El Anclote (Corral del Risco)

20° 46.3′ N · 105° 31.1′ W · approximate

The public village beach at Corral del Risco, fronting the Punta de Mita anchorage, where a long, slow longboard wave peels past a row of palapa seafood restaurants. It is the cruiser's landing beach for the town.

Practical

Coordinate is approximate: taken from the OSM restaurant row on Avenida El Anclote that backs the beach (e.g. El Dorado, OSM way 359204032, 20.77160, -105.51908); the sand is just seaward. Wikivoyage: El Anclote is a long, gentle beginner longboard break, and the village beaches at Corral del Risco are public (the Four Seasons and St. Regis beaches are private). Dinghy landing is through the shore break; one April 2024 report pulled up beside La Pescadora restaurant. Lock the dinghy (theft reports in the anchorage). Buses run to Puerto Vallarta from the Oxxo bus stop.
