Marina Chahué

15° 45.8′ N · 96° 7.3′ W

A small state-owned marina in Bahía Chahué, between Santa Cruz and Tangolunda, historically used as the safe place to wait for a Tehuantepec window; the entrance silting has made it unreliable.

Practical

Position from OpenStreetMap. Practical Sailor (Aug 2025): under construction, entrance not dredged, use only in an emergency. In 2012 it was nearly empty, with noticeable surge, about US$30/night without power or water (about $5 more with hookups) and one cold outdoor shower (Roads Less Traveled); boats used it as a refuge when the bays got rough. Call ahead for entrance depth before attempting it. Juanita's restaurant at the marina was a cruiser favorite in 2017. No fuel dock was reported in any source for this edition: jerry-can diesel from the Pemex on Boulevard Chahué or the Santa Cruz station. Huatulco Dive Center operates from Playa Chahué next door.

Best for

Emergency shelter only, until dredged
