Marina Caleta (Cozumel)

20° 29.0′ N · 86° 58.5′ W · approximate

The old Caleta basin a few miles south of downtown, home to much of Cozumel's dive-boat fleet; it shares its sea entrance with the newer Fonatur marina next door.

Practical

Coordinate is Noonsite's Cozumel port position (20 29.02N, 86 58.46W), which falls on the Caleta harbour area about 3 km SSW of downtown; it is not a surveyed entrance waypoint. BoatTEST/Marina Life (January 2024) says the Fonatur marina sits next to Caleta and shares the same sea access. Noonsite lists Caleta among the three marinas where visiting boats have berthed, but says none has much web presence and arranging a berth may need Spanish. No published depths, rates or fuel details found - call ahead on VHF 16 via the Capitanía or by phone. A 2020 local report said the federal port agency (ASIPONA, Progreso) took over administration of the Cozumel marinas including Caleta - verify locally. The cruise-ship piers are just south: watch for ship movements.
