Cabo San Lucas Port Captain and Clearance

22° 52.7′ N · 109° 54.6′ W · approximate

Cabo San Lucas is the first port of entry south of Ensenada: boats that did not clear in up north (or are leaving Mexico northbound) deal with the port captain, immigration and customs here.

Practical

Coordinate is approximate: the pin is the 'Oficina de Servicios a la Marina Mercante' building mapped in OpenStreetMap beside the harbor; Noonsite (updated September 2022) says the port captain's office is on Matamoros Street, and IGY says the customs and immigration office is near the marina but transport is suggested. Pay the immigration fee (983 MXN per person in 2026) at a bank; there is no Banjercito here, so get your TIP online before arriving. Officials can be slow - Noonsite reports up to two days for all approvals; many boats use an agent, e.g. Barreda Agency (operations@caboportagent.com, +52 612 348 8787), which also clears boats at Marina Puerto Los Cabos. Northbound boats headed to California usually clear out at Cabo San Lucas or Ensenada. From June 1 port captains broadcast daily tropical-weather bulletins at 8 am on VHF 16 and 22.
